Terminal V has built a serious reputation in techno, and the Sydney edition brings that energy to ivy on 17-18 October 2026. This is a different animal to a paddock festival – it’s an indoor, big-room techno event in the middle of the city, and it wants a different approach to what you wear and how you pace it. What To Expect
Proper techno, in a proper room, with the production to match. Indoor events like this have their own physics: the sound is contained and hits harder, the room heats up fast once it fills, and the lighting and haze do things you simply can’t achieve under an open sky. The crowd tends to be there for the music rather than the spectacle – people who know the artists and are there to dance for hours rather than wander between stages.
The practical upshot: you’re in one environment all night, it will be warm, and you’ll be on your feet the entire time. Plan for that rather than for weather.
What To Wear To A Techno Night
Techno style is its own language and it’s the opposite of bush-doof psychedelia: darker, sharper, more industrial. Think black, structure, hardware, and one element that catches the light.

Surviving A Long Techno Set
Techno rewards endurance – the good stuff often happens deep into the night, and the people still going are the ones who managed the early hours sensibly. Water regularly, eat before you go in, and take the occasional break from the front of the room.
And wear earplugs. An indoor room concentrates sound in a way an open field doesn’t, and a night of big-room techno is a genuine hearing-risk environment.
