Festival season has been in full swing for some time now, summer is well on the way. We’re over the Christmas and New Years humps but there is still a long way to go. We at Ravers.co have decided to make a list of essential Festival Self Care Remedies to know and stock in your festival kit.
Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is a medicinal plant with antioxidant and antibacterial properties. Aloe vera benefits can include reducing dental plaque, accelerating wound healing, preventing wrinkles, and managing blood sugar. This is a great plant for its overall cooling qualities and helps relieve sun burned skin. Making a morning drink with some is both refreshing, alkalizing, and will help keep you cool for the hot days ahead. Experimental studies found that aloe vera could reduce the healing time of burns by around 9 days compared with conventional medication. It also helped prevent redness, itching, and infections.
Ginger
Ginger may have numerous health benefits due to its anti-inflammatory, anti-nausea, and other properties. It may help you lose weight, manage arthritis, reduce menstrual symptoms, and more. Ginger has a long history of use in various forms of traditional and alternative medicine. It’s been used to aid digestion, reduce nausea, and help fight the flu and common cold, to name a few of its purposes. Gingerol has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. For instance, it may help reduce oxidative stress, which results from having too many free radicals in the body.
Turmeric
Turmeric contains a powerful antioxidant called curcumin. Unfortunately, this substance has a very low bioavailability in the body by itself. This easily solvable by consuming it with black pepper. Black pepper contains piperine which increases the natural bioavailability of curcumin by 2000%. Oxidative damage is believed to be one of the mechanisms behind aging and many diseases. It involves free radicals, highly reactive molecules with unpaired electrons. Free radicals tend to react with important organic substances, such as fatty acids, proteins or DNA.
Curcumin is a potent antioxidant that can neutralize free radicals due to its chemical structure. This helps offset the effects of long days dancing in the heat.
