Thereโs nothing quite like the moment you walk into a warehouse rave and feel reality begin to warp – when the space around you becomes a living, breathing work of art and your senses are pulled into something bigger than yourself. That was exactly the feeling that pulsed through my veins when I walked through the gates of the Kanuka Stage Edition of the AUM Winter Series โ curated by Lo-Fi Productions, the visionary minds behind the magical Kanuka Stage, and headlined by the legendary Danny Howells. From the moment I entered, it was clear: this wasnโt going to be an ordinary night. It was a total sensory immersion – a meticulously crafted convergence of sound, light, and collective energy that blurred the line between performance and experience.
The warehouse itself was transformed into an art installation, alive in every sense. Pulsing lights, sweeping visuals, mesmerising hanging sculptures, and interactive elements made it feel as though the space had a consciousness of its own. The walls seemed to breathe with the beat, guiding us deeper into a state of communal transcendence.
With support from Ana Teles, Mia Kober, Red Project, and Matt Drake, the nightโs sonic journey unfolded with precision. Opening with a deep, hypnotic flow, the music wove intricate melodies that pulled the crowd into harmonious movement. Seamlessly bridging atmospheric textures with animated rhythms, the warm-up acts sculpted a progression of frequency that invigorated body and soul. By the time Danny Howells took over, we were fully primed – mind, body, and spirit – ready to groove into the next chapter of sound.
At the core of the nightโs magic was none other than Danny Howells, a maestro who commanded the decks for a mesmerising four-plus-hour journey. From deep, hypnotic progressions to euphoric highs, Howells crafted a set that defied expectation, weaving seamless transitions that pulled us into a dreamlike state of motion. The Kanuka Stage night was storytelling through sound, and we were all characters in the unfolding narrative.
The crowd embodied what makes the underground scene so special: an unspoken understanding that we were co-creators of the night. Strangers became collaborators, weaving their own magic into the experience; through movement, energy, and spontaneous moments of connection. We were on an epic trip that drove us through an exquisite sonic landscape.
AUMโs Winter Edition is clearly planting seeds for something deeper. Massive gratitude to Lo-Fi Productions and, of course, the lovely AUM family for creating a space where sound, art, and community merged so effortlessly.
Until next timeโฆ be true, keep laughing, & don’t stop dancing – see you on the dance floor!
